Report on ISACA South Florida's WOW Event

The South Florida Chapter of ISACA has been holding an annual one-day conference each year in February known as the WOW! Event.  In 2018, they held their 11th conference on Friday, February 16th at FIU's Koven Conference Center at their Biscayne Bay campus.

This year's theme was "The InfoSec of Things: Emerging issues in Privacy and Security".  There were about 250 people in attendance for the day, with several speakers and a panel discussion with several local CISOs.

Speakers included:
Author Christopher Hadnagy (Social Engineering, Unmasking the Social Engineer, Phishing Dark Waters) spoke on phising, vishing and others.  The chapter had copies of his books available and was able to get a couple and have them signed.

Rich Heimann, Chief Scientist at Cybraics; Theo Peterson, Chief Security Architect at Bulletproof; and Samson Williams.

There was a panel of CxOs, including Mauricio Angee (CISO, Mt Sinai), Ana Roldan (CISO, Miami Dade College), and Sanjay Deo, CEO of 24by7Security.

For a keynote speaker, there was Tom Brennan, who is also a board member of OWASP.

And everyone was given a copy of Future Crimes.

Overall, a good conference.

Expect we'll see a new one next year.  The chapter is working on a joint GRC conference with a local IIA chapter, and a women in tech conference in October.
